Mixed martial arts?

im a smaller guy, but me and my buddys are all big MMA fans, i've just started training in martial arts (bjj/muay thai/judo program), but was wondering, what MMA legal moves have you smaller guys found useful, any judo throws against bigger guys that seem to work well, or any locks. let me kno, thx

Mixed martial arts?
I've found out in muay thai that the clinch to the body is very useful, due to the fact that I'm shorter than most of my fellow practitioners, i can pretty much squeeze them and disable them, or throw them to the ground, I don't have a background in judo but if you do it's even better.

Smaller guys have smaller limbs, which are hard to grab in order to apply a submission. This will help your bjj/judo, also work on your hip throws.

Being smaller is not an advantage, you must work on your speed and on having a solid defense. I'm a pretty short guy 5'5, but luckily I'm built like a wrestler and i have alot of power (i'm 191 lbs), so work on getting strong.

i hope this information is useful

good luck!
Reply:Yes, like underhooks, from this position I can pick my opponents up, I'd recommend working on that, squeezing with your arms also makes your opponent gasp for air. Report It

Reply:ALL BJJ LOCKS WORK AGAINTS BIG GUYS! you cant work out your elbow joints lol , catch em lock em up and break their bones. its so easy , usually big guys just power their way into my guard and walk right into a armlock , or triangle , judo throws and slams are kind of diffucult to preform on bigger dudes , since you are new. but eventually u learn to use their size and momentum againts em , and you can slam em down hard. and as far as muay thai goes , I never met one big guy , who can take a shin kick to the face , and walk it off lol. the whole point of mma is smaller guy beats the crap outa bigger guy with skill. so dont get intimadated.
Reply:let the big guy take you to the ground and armbar him from the bottom. its simple. go to dailymtion its a canadian website i think. and look for fedor emelianenko v mark coleman their first fight and watch how he armbars him. its such a simle move to pull off
Reply:In a fight against a big guy the last place you want to be is in your guard. Your guard should be a last ditch effort and in the guard I would look for a sweep to get a more dominant position in order to gnp. An armbar from guard vs. a big guy leads right into a nice slam!!! I would get dominant position and keep that position til you can transition to a choke becase people can fight with broken arms but cant fight a choke.
Reply:BJJ: I like a single leg take downs on bigger dudes. Single legs are always great because you can sweep the other leg easily with your foot, or just lean in hard with your head to knock them off balance (which I prefer).
Reply:in judo or any throws since you are smaller you don't have to get down as low to trow someone rather than a taller or bigger guy that would have to get lower than your center of gravity to throw you so really you have the advantage.
Reply:you should look for capoeira look some videos on net
