I'm quite fit and healthy and of competent flexibility (i train in martial arts 2-3 times a week), in my mid-20's and believe anything is possible, so have got it into my head that I would like to train my legs to relax more and do a full on split. Any tips?
(i'm no gymnast however!)
I've always wanted to do the splits. How??!?
Carefully!!! Try to push a little more every other day. One day pulling and ripping the muscles, the next day allow them to heal.
Reply:i can do splits..(yay!!)...but the way to get there is very hard..
try to stretch your legs everyday...try to do splits up to where you can manage...then rest...then do it agian but now try to push down...rest...then again...if you want to finish the session...go back up again to where you can manage and hold it twice the time you do normally.....

Reply:go to a gymnastics trainer or ballet.
Splits has nothing to do with martial arts.
Reply:Go as far down as possible use hands for support. put them on ground infront of you. take deep breaths. in through nose out mouth. you will sink little by little don't give up hope.
Reply:Try to go down as far as you can every day, that is all you need to do. You will achecive it quickly. It took me less than 6 months.
Reply:you are in the right track. Just do stretch regularly everyday, you will not mention your progrss from day to day, because this is too little to notice. You must beware, this can discourage you. But keep doing this for several months, and you will see a small but steady progress. After sometimes doing this, you will astonish about how you can achieve this.
