I'm a 3rd degree blackbelt who is considering personal martial arts instruction for a few extra bucks. Is there a demand for this? What would this one-on-one instruction be to you for yourself or child?
Karate personal training anyone?
i was an instructor for many years. although i enjoyed teaching at the dojo i was at, i knew i didn't have the drive or skills to run an effective business myself. if you feel you are ready and have something to offer, good luck to you. some high schools and colleges in my area offer evening classes for the community. so does my YMCA. you may be able to develop a 6-8 week course which you can run after hours at the school's gym. this would save a large financial investment to start up. it will also help you see if there is a demand for it and what people are willing to pay. if these people enjoy your class, word of mouth may increase your class size where you can start a school with this new customer base. my county college offers an 8 week general self defense class for 2 hrs on Mondays. my local high school offers a 4 week class for women which covers safety and self defense. if you check your local yellow pages, you can contact other schools to see what they charge. most schools require contract of 12 months at a time. if you are not looking to start a school and just want to meet few people to teach, make sure you are covered by insurance. good luck.

Reply:My 14 year old twins are Deputy 3 balck belts in Tae Kwon Do. Their Ta Kwon do is different and incorporates all kinds of martial arts in it.....they said they would rather be in their class with their friends and others to spar against.
Maybe older people (adults) would like the one on one better
Reply:Karate you.
