Say if Kurt Angle were given 1 full year to train in mixed martial arts for UFC. Who would win Angle or Lesnar?
Angle vs Lesnar UFC?
Angle would need to go to the light heavyweight division to even survive in mma, I would have to go with lesnar... He has the size and looks to be more commited to what he is doing
Reply:Angle. This is basically a ground and pound wrestling match, who ever gets a take down first wins. Angle, the better wrestler, would most likely win.
Reply:When Angle and Lesnar were both in WWE, they wrestled each other and Angle dominated Lesnar. Granted, that was a pure wrestling match and not MMA, but I've gotta think that if Angle actually trained in MMA for a year, that he'd be hard to beat. The only thing working against Angle is that his neck is all messed up from wrestling. Lesnar is younger and stronger, but Randy Couture has proven that age doesn't really matter in MMA.
Reply:Lesnar weighs more than 260...but anyways, I would take Angle because he seems to have superior technique. Technique seems to overcome size and I don't think they are too far apart since angle is a big guy himself and is strong as an ox.
Reply:If they both learned the same after 1 Year then lesnar.
Reason is in 1 year neither would learn much to very high level-in other words they would rely on their wrestling 90%.
And though angle is an olympic champ, NCAA champ is still a world class grappler and Lesnar would be too heavy for kurt in pure wrestling.
That's a fact being 264lb class and training with 96kg class guys all the time myself.
However if you gave them 3 years I would pick the smaller man angle.
because they would have more time to actually learn something and 220lbs guys box better on average than giants, and last longer in MMA fights. Its closer to an ideal weight.
Reply:it really depends on what kind of training both Angle %26amp; Lesnar would do in preparation for their fight under the Unified Rules. Lesnar has all the time in the world to learn as much as he can, and that means he can learn way more than just striking. he can mix up his amateur wrestling with some BJJ, which would help him if Angle does take him down and ends up on top of Lesnar. whereas for Angle, he has to split his time between TNA Wrestling and training, and that might prove to be the only difference if these two match up.
for me, it's really hard to tell because both these guys are grade-A wrestlers. if Lesnar takes time to expand his ground game, primarily on reversals sweeps %26amp; submissions, he might take this one.
Reply:Considering neither of them are MMA fighters why make them fight each other. Personally, i say we put lesnar up against Mirko Cro Cop and Angle up against Fedor Emelianenko to see if they're as badass as they (and all the little kiddies watching wrestling) seem to think that they are. I think Lesnar would kicked once in the legs and cry like a little girl if his leg didnt break he'd get KO'd some other way. Straight right or head kick who knows. Angle, well. Lets just say he'd be introduced to the mixed part of martial arts. If either of them lasted more than 1 round i'd consider them legit. Who knows, cro cop is losing a lot maybe lesnar could pull one off. (i wish he thought that way and accpeted that fight so i could see the first death in sanctioned MMA history... LOL)
Reply:Lesnar would crush Angle. That "bigger they are..." BS is just for the movies.
