Do you think Parkour should become an Olympic event? I do! I'd like to know your thoughts on this!?

The cultural phenomenon parkour is a physical activity which is difficult to categorize. It is not an extreme sport,[4] but an art[5] that resembles self-defense in the martial arts. According to the founder David Belle, the spirit of parkour is guided in part by the notions of "escape" and "reach," that is, the idea of using quick thinking with dexterity to get out of difficult situations.[6] Thus, when faced with a hostile confrontation with a person, one will be able to speak, fight, or flee. As martial arts are a form of training for the fight, parkour is a form of training for the flee. Because of its difficulty to categorize, it is often said that parkour is in its own category: "parkour is parkour."

i think parkour has just recently started to get popular. most people learned it by themselves and watching others. i dont think there are many schools for it but there are a lot of groups doing freerunning and parkour. recently, its unlikely it will become an olympic event, but if it gets popular enough it could be. for parkour to become an olympic event, there would most likely be a need for big organizations
Reply:"Competition pushes people to fight against others for the satisfaction of a crowd and/or the benefits of a few business people by changing its mindset. Parkour is unique and cannot be a competitive sport if it ignores its altruistic core to self development..."
