Whether you're trained in Karate, Jiu Jitsu, Savate, Anis, Taekwondo, or any other Martial Art, has there been a specific instance where it has come to use?
Like restraining someone or lifting something?
I would like to hear some stories.
Have you ever had to put your Martial Arts to use?
yeah.. I'm like what... 5'3'ish
-drunk overweight man... tries to choke me with a phone chord...
I used a krav maga defense... beat the crap out of him and made him wish he was never born.
it was the scariest time of my life, and yet the most proud.
krav maga... look into it. not a martial art, but pure martial lol
pure self defense, that is practical self defense for "ANYONE"
Reply:Once: used a move learned in Ai Ki Do to take out a drunk, aggressive college football player. I tried to talk my way out of the fight but he took a swing anyway. Glad I knew what to do or I would have been hurting!
Reply:My little brother used to be able to beat the crap out of me using the same tactic; jump and pretend to knee me. I'd cringe and then he'd rag me to the ground and make me submit. After like 2 lessons of kickboxing this didn't really work anymore, and now, after 1.5 years, he is scared of me :D
Reply:Yes. When I was in college, the University would get the Karate Club to be Security for Concerts that came in. (I personally Did Rusted Root %26lt;cool dudes%26gt; and Coolio %26lt;not overly cool%26gt; and there were many minor instances were minor compliance joint manipulation was used)
Reply:nope not yet
Reply:I got into a fight with a fat guy, and I'm pretty skinny. I hit with some TKD knees and eventually a self defense move.
He calmed that shi,t down.
Reply:I was in more fights before I knew any martial arts. I haven't had a fight since I started training some 13 years ago. I avoid trouble whenever I can. We have at least two students who have used their training. One avoided a rape in Philadelphia Pa. and another prevented and held a robber for the police here in New Castle De.
Reply:Is this really something to brag about? You're probably not going to get many stories from actual martial artists on here with this question because beating somebody into the ground is nothing to be proud of. Fighting should be a last resort, and it's never something to wave proudly on a banner. The only exception to this is the SiFu who's students helped others while using their skills. He's proud of them, and that, most definately, is something to be proud of.
