Should I drop out of my martial arts class?

I started training at this school using the new Steal Generation System, by our Shidoshi John Threadstone; because I was tired of being picked on.

Everything was ok until I got my yellow belt. Now I started anvil training and I don't think that I can make it through.

Shidoshi says that when he was with team six and was on a mission, he infiltrated the enemy camp and they taught him to use his body like an anvil. He says in order to become strong like the anvil, you must pick up its properties through continual contact with it. But anvil training is so hard, especially when you have to work on the pointy end.

And when Shidoshi is away on classified missions, the other instructors are harder on me. They make me do more advanced bone strengthening exercises and it hurts a lot.

Do you think I could transfer my yellow belt to a MMA school? Maybe even TKD? I just think I should change schools before horseshoe day.

Should I drop out of my martial arts class?
No! Whatever you do don't give up now because if you give up they only make it worse. They will send your records to the next school you go to and there they will make it harder but you will have to start all over again.

My little nephew just got his brown belt and we are all so glad he didn't have to start over again. Even though they broke his arm twice and his leg once, I was told that if he didn't follow through they just make it worse and worse.

The moment you try to transfer then they call the old school for your records and it's all over. The only hope you have is to change schools completely and lie about your name on the application forms. Do not ever mention the other school. You will have to start all over again but you might get lucky and have teachers that go easier on you.

Still, the best thing to do is stick it out. It's really your safest choice. Other than just moving to Brazil or something.
Reply:yeah
Reply:It all depends on what you like most? If you prefer to transfer to MMA or TKD then do so but don't give up completely. You will regret it for the rest of your life if you quit everything. It sounds like maybe they are being too hard on you, sometimes it's trying to discipline one but from the sounds of it they are being unfair and hard on you.
Reply:I doubt the belt will transfer, but if you don't like the kind of training being done, change schools. Yellow belt is not much different than white belt anyway. Sometimes on our journey up Mt. Everest, we find we're climbing the wrong mountain, and rather than stuborly continue to climb a mountain beside everest, we should climb back down and start up a new mountain.
Reply:dude that guys full of it. go to an mma school. they teach you real methods. the only thing that actually helped you was bone strengthening but their methods probably suck. you want to learn to fight then mma is for you its more effective than that crap. answer me this if your anvil training worked would you be able to bounce bullets off you. NO. that does nothing. when fists are flying you are going to be hit and mma will hit you. at least a good mma school. good luck don't worry about belts usually mma doesn't require belts. its an outdated form of training now just used to suck money out of people. mma is just mma.
Reply:Man, I don't know what some of these people saying. But listen yo! My boy got in a brawl with one of those SGS bastards. My man, got a beating with that Anvil crap, and they almost wasted him.

Those f*cktard are sick. They'll kick the sh1t out of any of those lame MMA motherf*ckers.
Reply:I don't think you should leave No. Training isn't going to be easy at the other school and if its slack and your not sweting and feeling pains in your body and getting stronger then what is the point. Yes have fun but you should always try to benefit yourself in everything you do don't take an easy way out. Way do you think they are pushing to your limit, not to get you mad or hate the training its to better yourself and make you a True Martial Artiest understand my friend. Rememeber Quiters NEVER win, WINNERS never Quit...Remember that my friend, Good Day.
Reply:if you dont like the style go to a different one. if you can find an Aikido Dojo join it. Im not talking about any style of Aikido either join one of these Aikido styles.Tomiki,Shinbu,
Reply:you cant pick up properties of an anvil, sounds like your "shidoshi" had one to many missions, find another school with sane principles
Reply:I have never even heard of this system. Where did it come from? What kind of classified missions does this guy go on? Team Six...is he a SEAL? I think beating on an anvil is just some wack jobs way of making you think he is tough. Bail before you break.
Reply:If you don't like it transfer. I really don't think you need to hit an anvil to learn take care of yourself. I've seen people that have done similar things and in their later years there hands are good or punching but little else. I'm not saying quit because its hard though, it supposed to be. You'll burn out if you dislike as much as it sounds and possibly quit martial arts altogether. Life's too short, go somewhere your happy.

I wouldn't worry about transferring your belt either. You should worry about becoming better at your techniques and not worrying about belts. Why go through the hassle to go in at a yellow belt. You'll have to learn all the white belt stuff anyway. Ive moved alot and switched schools and even styles several times. If your teacher is really interested in you as a student (why would you train with someone that isn't) they'll see by your technique how much you've trained and you should move up accordingly

Good luck
