Reply:Hi Gerry,

Reply:Go for it, I am sure it will be very enlightening.
Reply:whats the down side ,do it ,enjoy.
Reply:i'd get a base understanding of japanese first, (a base understanding is all thats needed, while your there you'll soak up the language like a sponge, but you'll need to speak the very basics to be able to soak it up if that makes sense)
But yeah go for it. Buy me some manga while your there... wait, i can't read kanji... DAMMIT foiled again.
Reply:Sounds intresting you can many different martial arts but if you go to okanawa you'll get probably more experiance in a martial art such as judo or karate since it originated from there.
Reply:go for it dude, you might find the experience to your liking.
Reply:Very good idea!!! I did just that in 2004 but for only a few months(didn't have the money for much later). I also think it good to learn the basics of Japanese so you can learn the natural flow of the language. You may find it easy at first to train at a University because if you don't have a job yet, you can train for free. I was treated as a real member of the club and competed on the team also.
