Savate:Should I Be Worried?

i knocked this guy around a bit after he threw his drink on me.didn't do him any real damage.he is smaller than me and he didn't fight back.now i find out he studied in france and knows savate.should i be worried?i have no martial arts training.

Savate:Should I Be Worried?
Avoid him as much as possible.Learn boxing and kickboxing so that if he starts a fight with you,you have a fighting chance to defend yourself.Try also learning wrestling.Savate`s weakness is that it lacks defense against wrestling techniques and other grappling attacks. So by knowing some wrestling, you might be able to pin him the ground, preventing him from being able to strike you,and giving you chance to continuasly punch him.
Reply:Savate is a pretty cool Martial Arts style. Lots of different kinds of kicks. But lot's of people say they are trained in some martial art that other people haven't heard of, so there is no way to prove any different. He may be a turd, but I've never met him, so who knows.
Reply:savate is a joke. only the french consider it a martial art. size in martial arts isn't really important, I know a guy 5'3" 130 pounds who would stomp me into the ground in seconds. I'm 6'2" 200 pounds. I'd like to point out if he was actually dangerous, instead of throwing him around a bit, you'd be in a world of hurt right now.
Reply:Savate was 1st introduced into FRANCE by merchant sailors whose home port was MARSEILLE FRANCE.It was a conglomeration of techniques they picked up in the SOUTH SEAS ports of call and was probably influenced by muay thai burmese bando indonesian pentjak etc.

It caught on quickly with street fighters and the criminal element.Later it was picked up by the upper classes and taught much the same as any art is taught today .In the early 1900's english boxing was added to it and sword cane fighting tho today only the cane is used. All it lacks is grappling technique to round it out.

JOHN L SULLIVAN had a match with a savate adept which his handlers stopped in the 2nd round because JOHN L was getting his *** kicked by a frenchie half his size.

Savate is hardly a joke in the hands of someone who seriously trains at it which is true of any method.

Saying he studied and actually doing it and how hard he worked at it are 2 different things .
Reply:Having any kind of martial arts training makes a person dangerous. Not because they know moves but because they can think in stressful situations. And when it comes to fighting, it boils down to thinking around your enemy. Considering that you're asking this questions, you're probably already nervous and that hinders your ability to fight this guy (even a little bit is an advantage), and that means he has already intimidated you.

Even if he knows Savate, I'd say fight him. But only if you think you have the nerves to do so. If you feel even a little bit of uncertainty, you're going to loose.
Reply:Unless he is threatening you , no.
Reply:watch out for his kicks because savate practioners fight with shoes on, they sting.
