Why are people asking if they can learn martial arts over the Internet.?

I noticed 3 people did over the past hour. Asking for websites and crap like that. Is that a joke? You can't learn the forms or any kind of diciplyn and training on line. Even with a video you still really don't learn anything, you need a real instructor and dojo/training area to practice any kind of martial arts.

Why are people asking if they can learn martial arts over the Internet.?
Please watch a BJJ Purple belt teach on line and you tell me if you learnt anything.

They say you can.

They are the actual Champions and not of the keyboard.

The US Military states that you can;

Why do they make videos? All for the money right? C'mon this is not a super science for the select few.
Reply:to learn the real stuff you really just need to join a program and learn from there, you can't get a good work out or the foundation of self defence online Report It

Reply:well, when i first started MA, i wanted the same thing and asked the same question.

the reason for me is so i would understand the roots of what im learning then actually going to the school.
Reply:Man dude i notice people ask stuff like that all the time and to be honest with you i bet the karate ads n stuff make alot of money. Your right get a real instructor and go from there.
Reply:I'd assume that MOST of the people asking are very young %26amp; don't know any better.

... Or maybe there are people who actually think they can learn ANYTHING online.
Reply:They ask because they want to become "masters" quickly and they don't understand what it means to study and learn an art. That's my take on it, but I could be wrong.

Personally, I completely agree with you. The only way to learn a style, art, or technique is to literally have another human being there to teach you. Without them, you may as well make up your own moves and tell everyone that they work.
Reply:Because they probably don't know if they can.
Reply:It all depends, if they want to get some ideas and moves online that they will later practice either with someone or in the Dojo then thats fine, if they have the tenasity to practice this way its great

But if they think that watching a few video and practiceing a little is going to help them in a fight they are fooling themselves, they will probably do worse in a fight trying to do a technique than they would all out brawling
Reply:Person A : hasn't a clue and thinks that they can

Person B: just jerking everyone's chain

Person C: Kinda like person A but knows they can't but is only a "wantabe" and thinks that they could gain some "rank" by reading a few web sites. The bad thing is they can.
