will I be able to manage anger and fear if i start martia art specially kung fu ? what benefits did you get from training ?
Martial art advice ??
you'll be fitter and more active which in turn will helps your general health and well being.you'll also learn to defend yourself and show self control, physically and mentally.ma will also help give you a better outlook on life anb principles in general.theres a lot more benifits but these are just some in brief. heres some other info that may help you.
A good well rounded style would be freestyle Karate. You will learn stand up,ground, grappling and weapons. What a lot of people don't understand is that freestyle Karate is about practical street defence not who can kick the highest or punch a pad the hardest. It's definitely not a sport martial art like TKD or BJJ.The motto of my style is the best of everything in progression.Basically that means we don't care where the technique comes from we improve it and integrate it into our style while still maintaining tradition as do most freestyle Karate's.
The hardest thing is finding a good experienced instructor.I would recommend Bushi Kai or Zen Do Kai, but if your not in Australia or New Zealand you may have some difficulty finding some one who teaches these styles. These styles also usually have separate classes available to everyone in Muay Thai and BJJ/Submission/Shoot wrestling. If you can't find one of these i would suggest Kempo or Enshin or another freestyle Karate.

Reply:you get what you put into it.
I get flexibilty, power, speed, confidence, a larger pain threshold, knowledge, cooridnation, and heart. I put my heart and soul into it and ive got tremondous rewards. As far as anger and fear it disappeared in time for me. After gettin knocked out by a guy that benches near 400 you stop fearing the knockout so much
Reply:I believe so, though it usually takes a few years.
Reply:Yes? Martial Arts will help with anger?
Reply:That could be a benefit, also physical fitness and self defense.
Reply:Kung fu, like all other martial arts- will give you self control as well as more flexibility, strength and balance. Over time, you will develop self confidence and self discipline and that in turn will help you overcome your double demons: Fear and Anger. There's a quote that was said by the late Ed Parker, founder of American Kenpo Karate.....
"Mastery of the art comes when the tiger is seen, but the dragon prevails."
That means that over time you will become aware of what you can do when the lives of yourself and your loved ones are in danger, and the less you will be prone to losing your cool in every other situation because of the consequences of using your skills. The Tiger is aggressive, but the Dragon is wise.
Think on it, grasshopper!!! LOL
And best of luck to you on your journey, my friend!!!!
Reply:Martial arts will definitly help with anger...think about it, I mean sure theres the whole, "knowing you can defend yourself so you don't have to prove it by hitting someone in the face for stealing your pencil" aspect...but theres also the fact that you get to hit things and other people whenever you train, which helps a lot.
As for fear, even some people in the UFC get butterflies before a fight...but when push comes to shove, scared or not, when your backed into a corner, you WILL fight for your life..it's wheather or not you know HOW to that will matter.
Reply:If you have a good instructor, yes. Don't expect instant results though.
Reply:i think that yes, martial arts would help you control anger, especially internal arts such as aikido. some arts would help you channel it and use it to your advantage. it may sound like a cheesy Chinese movie line but anger can really turn into power in sparring. from my training i gained a lot of confidence and kinda got the chip off my shoulder. i also got stronger and faster too. if you don't feel like your life is going anywhere, taking a martial art is a good way to give it a good swift kick in the ***. so really its up to you which art to take, but you have to choose carefully based on what each art teaches and what you want to gain from it. i recommend doing a lot of research before choosing a style, but taking a martial art is a wonderful idea.
Reply:My school has this saying-"Leave the outside world out of the dojo". If you want to be good at martial arts, you have no choice but to forget the anger and frustrations of the day and just concentrate on class. If you can't, you will practice angry and make mistakes. This is hard to do at first, but once you realize this and let go of all that baggage you will become a good martial artist. A lot of adults do this to get away from their job and kids!
As far as fear goes- it is a conditioned response. Fear is actually good- it alerts you to danger and keeps you from doing stupid stuff (like jump off the roof of a two-story building to see if you can make it into the pool below). Martial arts will help you listen to and subdue fear through repetition.
Reply:Yeah ,I recon it does. i think it cames down to train of thought too, that comes with learning the likes of Gung Fu. Yeah ,sure you still get pissed off some times but its how you react to it, that makes the difference, right?
Like when some flea infested mongrel tries to pick a fight with you and you have enough self-respect to walk away, knowing dame well you could have wiped them of the face of the earth. lol
Reply:martial arts is about stepping in to the water and getting wet
turn fear in to fire anger in to focus, you reap what you sow
simple as that...........
Reply:i have to learn this
Reply:I used to put my anger out in the streets and bars. But after i started training, I found out that pain, punches, kicks are really something that is sacred and shouldn't be throw all the time.
Why waste time punching a guy who irritates you when you can just joke to yourself about how stupid that guy is.
Well, i do get into fights even after getting into training. But i learnt to control myself, my punches and kicks. Sometimes, I will just try to lock their arms and try to reason with them. At least, I've found myself 2 very good friends that helped me al ot after reasoning with then by locking their arms 5 years ago.
