I recently ruptured my Achilles tendon while training (mixed martial arts). It's been operated on and the leg has been put in an Aircast. I have to wear the cast for 9 weeks (3 down already), stay off the foot and walk with crutches. After that it's 6 to 12 months of rehabilitation on the leg before I can return to training.
Is there any training/ exercise I can do while I have the cast that's related to my fighting style?
Which exercises would strengthen my tendon for martial arts use once the cast is removed? Something that can be done in conjunction with the rehabilitation?

any isometric exercise while the cast is on.
eg. flex and stiffen your muscles for 8 seconds everytime. don't overdo it, you'll end up with that leg stronger.
when the cast is off, and after some recovery exercises, stand with your toes on the staircase (as if you are walking up) then take your heel below the level of the step, then lift your heel as high as it will go. Build your reps up slowly.

Best of luck with the recover, crap to have an injury like this but I'm sure if you take it slow and easy and not overdo anything, you will recover well.
Reply:Cast is old fashioned.... You need an artificial brace, that is fashioned by a specialist, because when you leave it to the cast made of Plaster of Paris. The immobility will weaken the
ligament it slinks away in size, and it has a lot more recuperation before you can be back in training...... This is an Olympic Year..... You should be back in Do JO by May or July... A Training is your balance... When I broke several bones in my right foot a few years ago, and I already could dance again within a couple of weeks... My secret ??? American Indian Footwear or Boots... No doctors they kill us here sooner then anything else.

Reply:just make sure you do what the doctor tells you because he knows what hes talking about. i have been there and still there thius is not something to f**k with. it can be the difference between walking and not. there is a point where the achilles get dammaged to bad it CANT be fixed. so dont do anything stupid
