What do I have to do to become a ufc fighter?

I am 23 years old, I am 6 feet tall, about 185 lbs, and in good condition, I have had training in martial arts. I have been in plenty of winning fights but no underground fights. And I'm looking for someone with the information. Please let me in on any thing that you may know?! Thank You!

What do I have to do to become a ufc fighter?
Wow...

Well first place to start is to join a decent MMA gym, preferably a place that already has some contacts and has guys fighting already in local or regional shows.

Once he establishes himself there, a gym can set him up to fight at local or regional type events, if he wins or is impressive, bigger shows will look to recruit him, or he can earn professional status and start getting paid. Then if he develops a repuation and starts getting talked about, he can gain more money, and possibly an inside into The Ultimate Fighter tryouts, or submit an audition tape.

Aside from very few exceptions most of the guys on The Ultimate Fighter have gotten there through this path.

Some guys got on there just because they had connections with the coach, or with previous TUF contestants.

Keep in mind, whether or not people realize it, some guys are brought on simply as speed bumps for guys, to make for some exciting fights to help build them up. Sometimes the speed bumps win.

In any case, first and foremost would be to link up with a good MMA gym, and start training to fight in local shows. Work up to Pro status and start getting your name out there.

Good luck!

REAPER:

Not to be a jerk or anything, but I think your buddy's instructor or your buddy has fed you a line of BS.

First off Derek Panza has never fought in professional MMA. He fought in the World Combat League (a non grappling event, glorified full contact karate, legitimate and good, but not MMA). Much less even stepped foot into the UFC, and is not even remotely close to being a former UFC Champion. That is just a outright lie.

Some of his other instructors are decent and have actually fought in professional MMA (one of them, who has a 4 and 1 record) none of them are even CLOSE to being in the UFC, much less a UFC champion.

Nor do any of them have the pull to put someone into the UFC. (Vastly different from doing some MMA at a local show). Attending some seminars does not make them have the connections to get someone in the UFC.

In fact there are precious few gyms that can actually manage to get anyone into the UFC outright. There are some fighters who can get their guys on the path, and maybe a shot a The Ultimate Fighter. But directly into the UFC? Few and far between.

Pat Miletech schools, Legends Gym (Bas Rutten, Randy Couture, etc) Team Quest, and Greg Jackson's place in New Mexico, or the school that one of the Coaches for the Ultimate Fighter runs. (Pretty much every coach on the Ultimate Fighter has managed to get one or two of his guys on in that season)

My only hope is that you are trying to sell the place and you know better. But don't do this school false advertisement, that school hasn't placed anyone in even the smaller shows yet, much less the UFC. It has no connections to the UFC but can probably get someone into some small local or regional shows. From there someone's fate can be in their own hands.

I am sure it is a great place to train, and to prepare, but be realistic and honest.
Reply:You gotta get on the Ultimate Fighter. And once in you gotta kiss Danas *** win or lose
Reply:Apply directly to the UFC, there is probably a contact on their website. I imagine they often hold auditions besides simply The Ultimate Fighter to look for new talent.

I think if you are willing to fight for free your first match and you have a good record, they'll take you. Once you win against someone with a UFC record they'll sign you or at least start paying you for wins.

Videotape a couple of your matches and send that in to them to get their attention. Just fight as much as you can, make a real name for yourself and then they are bound to notice.
Reply:Go to any MMA gym. Most of them has a connection to those kinds of tournaments. Or you can go to some gyms that UFC fighters owns. Like Derek Panza for example. He was a UFC champion and he currently owns a gym in School Street which is in Glen cove. What I'm trying to say is that you should go to a gym that has some sort of connections with UFC. The gym I mentioned definitely has a connection. And my friend that goes there right now was told that they would let him enter UFC once they think he's capable.
Reply:Have a good record.
